Great Bear Uranium and Hillcrest Resources Identify Geophysical Anomalies at Thelon Project, NWT

May 14, 2008
Great Bear Uranium Corp. (the "Company" or "Great Bear") and its partner Hillcrest Resources Ltd. ("Hillcrest") are pleased to announce that an airborne geophysical survey has been completed over the Thelon Uranium Project located in the Northwest Territories and several large high priority target areas have been identified for immediate follow-up.

The Thelon Project was acquired for its potential to host high-grade, unconformity-type uranium mineralization similar to that found in the Athabasca Basin at deposits such as Key Lake. The large 88,166 hectare (198,095 acres) project is located in the Thelon Basin of the Northwest Territories approximately 500 kilometers southeast of the city of Yellowknife and 60 kilometers to the south the Boomerang Lake unconformity type uranium prospect being explored by Cameco Corporation and Uravan Minerals Inc.

Great Bear and Hillcrest retained Tundra Airborne Surveys Ltd. to conduct a 4,896 line kilometer airborne geophysical survey over the claim block. The objective of the survey was to identify features related to unconformity-type uranium mineralization for further follow-up. Three types of data were collected during the survey: aeromagnetics, airborne radiometrics, and airborne VLF. Interpretation of the data was completed by TerraNotes Ltd. an independent firm that specializes in highly detailed interpretations of geophysical and geological data.

The geophysical survey identified many linear structures and zones of possible alteration and several high priority regions of interest were highlighted for immediate follow-up. Maps showing the location of the regions of interest have been uploaded to: http://greatbearuranium.com/uranium/news/. Inferred faults in the southern and western parts of the property display potential for hosting uranium or polymetallic mineralization occurrences where there are coincident potassium and magnetic anomalies.

A follow-up exploration program is being planned to investigate the regions identified. Follow-up ground radiometric surveys and geological and geochemical fieldwork have been recommended to examine the regions of interest and identify drilling targets.

The technical information in this news release has been prepared in accordance with the Canadian regulatory requirements set out in National Instrument 43- 101 and reviewed on behalf of the Company by Jody Dahrouge, P.Geol., of Dahrouge Geological Consulting Ltd., Edmonton, Alta, a qualified person.
