Surprise Creek Project

Great Bear has 100% interest in the Surprise Creek project, which consists of three mineral claims located in the past producing Uranium City mining district of northwest Saskatchewan.

The region is perhaps best recognized as having been the base of operations for Eldorado Nuclear up until 1982.  During its tenure in the Uranium City area, Eldorado produced more than 44 million pounds of uranium from 3 mines (Ace, Fay & Verna).

The Surprise Creek claims have been investigated by various operators beginning in the late 1960s.  Historical uranium exploration on the property includes mapping, surface sampling, airborne geophysical surveys, trenching, and shallow drilling.  As a result of their work, several areas of uranium mineralization have been identified on the property including the Surprise Creek and Max showings.

The Surprise Creek showing is an area of pitchblende and copper mineralization located approximately 600 meters northeast of Hump Lake.  Sampling at the showing yielded assays of 1.40% U3O8, 5.43% Cu and 0.04 oz./ton Ag.  Surface trenching yielded an average grade of 1.11% U3O8 with the highest assay returning 6.36% U3O8.  A shallow diamond drill hole returned an average grade of 1.24% U3O8 over 22 ft.

The Max showing is an area of pitchblende and uranophane mineralization located at the north end of Max Lake, approximately 0.4 km (0.25 miles) north of the eastern tip of Hump Lake.  The showing is composed of an easterly-striking carbonate vein, within north-easterly trending paragneiss.  A maximum assay of 0.57% U308 was returned from the vein.

Great Bear is currently evaluating all of the historical data that is available on the property in preparation for an upcoming exploration program.
